Paul and Barnabas sailed from Seleucia, the seaport of
Antioch of Syria, to Cyprus. Their adventures there are
recorded in Acts 13:4-13. From there, their ship docked on the
mainland at the seaport of Attalia, modern Antalya. The cliff
shown is Kadin Yar’I ("Punishment Cliff"). The city had a custom
of determining the guilt or innocence of an unfaithful wife by
having her thrown off this cliff. If she survived, the gods were
pronouncing her innocent. The missionaries did not tarry in
Attalia but headed inland.
