The church flourished in Philippi and had a special relationship with Paul throughout his ministry, as revealed by the letter to the Philippians. The ruins of at least three church buildings have been excavated. The church building shown is "Basilica B," which dates to the 6th century. It was never finished due to the collapse of its great dome.
