As a Roman citizen, Paul had the right to appeal his case
directly to the Roman emperor. He decided circumstances
warranted his exercise of this right, and so he was put aboard a
ship for the journey. Acts 27 tells the harrowing story of the
ill-fated ship and its wrecking off the coast of Malta. Chapter
28:1-10 tells of Paul’s adventures on the island. Malta became
a center of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem after the
Crusaders lost the Holy Land and later the large island of
Rhodes to the Moslem conquest. The photo shows the
