The next leg took them through the strait between Italy and
Sicily and into the Tyrrhenian Sea. They followed the coast
north and landed at the major port of Puteoli, modern Pozzuoli.
It had been a Roman colony from 194 BC. Paul "found
brethren" here and the Roman guard allowed him to stay
seven days (Acts 28:14). The photo shows the market area
which was surrounded by shops, now partially under water.
