William H. and Shirley L. (Bill and Shirley) Stephens, owners of Authors Book Nook, are experienced writers who have spent many years in publishing, mostly in editorial work with LifeWay Christian Resources (formerly the Baptist Sunday School Board).

Bill was long-time editor of Biblical Illustrator, an archeology and biblical background magazine and has written extensively in history and Bible study. He has taught conferences and lectured throughout the U. S. and abroad. Bill has been a member of American Schools of Oriental Research, Society of Biblical Literature, and the Evangelical Theological Society. He is listed in Who's Who in Religion in America and Who's Who in Biblical Studies and Archeology, and is the author of twelve books. He earned a doctorate from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Long before women became active in theology and pastoral ministry, Shirley was a pioneer to receive a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Her writing career has spanned more than 25 years in a wide variety of subject areas: feature articles, books, Bible study materials, and educational materials. She has designed and edited a wide range of adult and youth Bible study materials and is the author of five books. She and Bill have traveled to many parts of the world.

The Stephens have four grown children and five grandchildren.
